Schubertiade: intimate social gatherings named for the composer franz. Schubert who was the main attraction at these gatherings and who provided the music almost always his own to a circle of close friends. These events were not designed to make money nor where they on the grand music scale. They were formal evenings given over to socialize, eat, drink and dance with lots of music: compare chamber music to the large-scale works for public concerts.
