Hope (people of africa have lots of hope) Point of first two readings this week was to give you a glimpse of the african experience. There are two main perspectives in this class: (1) liberal (believer) (2) critical (skeptics) Some other perspectives that will be explored are: Identity: cultural and religious, hutu & tutsi of rwanda, killed because of identity. Every week the readings will provide clashing perspectives. It is important to know the authors name and their argument and the similarities and differences between authors. African experience readings are stories from prominent african leaders and scholars that give insight into african life. There will be 5 quizzes and one make-up quiz throughout the semester based on the readings and in class material so it is important to do readings and come to class. Every few weeks we will be tested on how well we know the placement of the countries in africa.
