Crime is something that is against the law. They believe if it causes harm but isn"t against the law someone else should deal with it. Administrative law: could end in fines and warnings. Civil law: sue someone, estates, landlords, could end in settlements or court. Criminal law: governs between individuals and the state, 3 types crimes against the person, property crime, offences that are wrong with no obvious victim. Canadian criminal law: objective-legalistic perspective, actus reus. Proof you actually did the crime: mens rea. Social deviance: most serious typically criminal, least serious are not, not always the case however, assisted suicide is now legal, criminal behavior is usually deviant but deviant behavior is not always criminal. Changing with the times: assisted suicide bill has now passed, legalizing marijuana, what was once considered deviant and criminal can change over time.
