Social relationships and social interactions are key to understanding criminality. They look at which relationships pose danger to the victim and they look at the tendencies within the relationship. Overall, analyzing the relationships of the victim and the offender even if there is not one, is crucial as it helps us understand the motive or how the crime was committed. Social type refers to a homicide that can be categorized based on the relationship between the victim and the offender or the social process that led up to or surrounds the homicide. Not every homicide results in the victim knowing the offender so the social process of how the offender choose the victim is important. Kill multiple times often the same way.
