Cornell note-taking was developed at cornell university by walter pauk (soiferman, Soiferman (2014) states the reason behind the development of this system was frustration of students over their test scores. As time passed, it was adopted by major law schools. If we look at the stats, cornell note-taking method is the part of the curriculum in 4,800 schools in 48 states (avid, 2012). Cornell note-taking is described as taking important notes from lecture to become an active learner (soiferman, 2014, slide1). There are two different features of cornell note-taking; organizing notes and information through an integrated system and dividing the page into three sections, each section corresponds to a specific purpose (soiferman, 2014, slide2). Cornell note-taking system improves retention of information because it helps students to condense important information in their own words, saves time while preparing for the exam and improves their understanding of targeted content.
