Sample vs population: ensure sample data is representative of our population and does not over or under cover any sub populations, variable: any characteristic or property of an individual. Distribution: of a variable tells us what values a variable takes on and how often it takes these on. A count of how many of our data values fall into predeter- mined classes of intervals. Relative frequency: number of data values in a class divided by the total number of data values in the sample.
