Carry out major processes for biogeochemical cycles: cant carry out cycles like the carbon cycle, if there weren"t any microorganisms. Can live in places unsuitable for other organisms. Other life forms require microbes to survive. Cytoplasmic membrane: barrier that separates the inside of the cell from the outside environment. Cytoplasm: aqueous mixture of macromolecules, ions, and ribosomes. Single, circular dna molecule ( chromosome ) Dna enclosed in a membrane bound nucleus. Cells are generally larger and more complex. Reproduction: generation of two cells from one.
