Doesn"t account for circumstances, luck, social connections etc. Upstream interventions: change environment or public policy (e. g. bike lanes, tax credits for parents) Downstream interventions: individual/ small group lifestyle modification; prescribed drugs; interventions (research). Norm = a rule that is socially enforced/sanctioned and involves an expected standard of behavior and beliefs established by the dominant group.
