Document Summary

Algorithm: specific set of instructions for carrying out a procedure or for solving a problem: must produce a result, must be achievable/possible, must be expressed clearly. Algorithms qualities: algorithms make assumptions, have multiple solutions, are expressed in modular pieces. Make a decision when something is true or false. But they do these things really, really fast and very, very consistently. Examples: morse code, health code, secret code. We focus on code that communicates a set of instructions. Syntax errors: a character or string incorrectly placed in a command or instruction that causes a failure in execution. Runtime errors: a runtime error is a program error that occurs while the program is running. The term is often used in contrast to other types of program errors, such as syntax errors and compile time errors. There are many different types of runtime errors. One example is a logic error, which produces the wrong output.
