Modern neurobehavioral science has its origins in several disciplines. Name 3 and describe one method from each which has been used in studying brain-behavior relationships. Neurology looks at how both the sensory and motor function systems work. You can find out what regions of the motor cortex are used during specific movements by lesioning parts of the motor cortex. Lobotomies: parts of the brain are disconnected from other parts and create lesions. Focal lesioning: reversible lesion (cooling), non reversible (chemical vs heat) Structural imaging (ct&mri) ct: ct (computerized tomography) scans different areas in the brain and shows sections of the cortex in 3d. By doing so we are able to see if there are abnormalities in the cortex at different densities. Functional imaging (pet&fmri) pet (positron emission tomography): uses radioactive substance and metabolize in the cortex to see the flow of the cortex and determine abnormalities.
