Objectivist side: examination of law breaking behaviours, lots of focus on the behaviours themselves and the causes of those behaviours (psychological issues, childhood influences) Making a big deal out of some things that may not happen that often (school shootings), meanwhile ignoring things that happen to a lot more people a lot more often (tax fraud) There is a huge gap where there should be a definition of what a gang is. People use the media to determine what certain things are and mean. Street kids are seen as a problem, but media never talks about how those kids need our help because that"s not the kind of society they want to portray. Race is seen as big deal in media: when a white offender acts out, his/her race is never really talked about. But a poc offender"s race is mentioned over and over again, leading people to believe it has something to do with their race.
