The power of social contexts sometimes leads us to act in ways that differ from our attitudes. Our political attitudes affect our voting behaviour. Personality dispositions affect behaviour; different people react differently to the same situation. Attitudes follow behaviour, which leads us to believe strongly in those things for which we have committed ourselves or suffered. Many of our social behaviours reflect a deep biological wisdom. Our inherited human nature predisposes us to behave in ways that helped our ancestors survive and reproduce.
