Document Summary

We have spent a term exploring how leisure is defined, delivered, and practiced. Using this new understanding, articulate your own definition of leisure (3). Then identify (2) how leisure differs from the concepts of recreation and play . Finally, define leisure boredom (2) and identify three factors (3) that contribute to leisure boredom. (module 1,2) Leisure is considered as discretionary or free time that we do not work or fulfilling the basic requirements for existence (eating sleeping wearing). Also, leisure can be considered as an activity. Work activities produce greater value, but non-work activities give sound body and mind. Lastly, leisure can be defined as state of mind. It considers this conceptualization, the activity itself is not the important piece when it comes to defining an experience as is how people perceive the activity. Recreation is an activity that people engage in during their free time, that people enjoy, and that people recognize as having socially redeeming values.
