Voluntourism: volunteering in an organized way to undertake holidays that might involve aiding or alleviating the material poverty of some groups in society, the restoration of certain environments or research into aspects of society or environment. A de-commodifying process looks for ways of changing the relationships between people and the environment, and changing the relationships between people. Most voluntourism is commodi ed, wwoof and nwc are de- comodifying. It appears that organic volunteering has the potential to shift tourism from an experiential commodity to a de-commodi ed experience. Culinary tourism: exploring food as a subject and a medium, to explore new ways of being, construct marketable publicly attractive identities.
