Document Summary

So, we"ve already talked in terms of power and privilege, about how we might think about things that we see all around us to really critique what it is that we know. I would call this everyday theorizing", where we"re thinking critically about the things that we see and hear that are all around us and really ask critical question about what they mean. This is a kind of theorizing and i think it"s an important thing for us to think about how we theorize what it is that we know and understand about the world in a particular way. We"re going to come back to this issue of theory throughout the course. There are lots of ways that we can think about theory and usually when i talk to my students about theory, they kind of are uncomfortable and aren"t sure that they actually want to participate in doing theory.
