Getting drivers license, drinking age, criminal justice sys, retirement, voting, hitting children for correction purposes. Experienced differently by diff ppl for some, discriminatory: eg. Running for office (need money can only get if older), renting cars, road star (need 10 yrs experience: 2-yr independent test for bc employment and assistance applicants (bad for young ppl w/no uni degree) Criterion to justify: sometimes good of society outweighs an individual, reasonable limits (can"t have motor tests for 2 yr olds to see if they have ability to drive) Some rule don"t have explicit age grading, but rules that still related to age (ieg. 2003 bc gov eliminated req for employment to get special permit to employ children younger 12-14 yrs. Rationale- that"s the parents jobs rely on parents to be involved.
