Self can be thought of as unique: social i level. Self thought of as member of group. Identity is examining how different we are from others. Intragroup comparisons: compare to group of people who are similar to you, ex. Intergroup comparisons: compare across group to group, ex. There are different ways we see self with increase with age. I am a person: sentence implied with self definition, trait like or global descriptors. I am a person when: responses contingent on situation implied, more contextual responses. For those with: high self complexity, important aspects of self are distinct from one another. Like putting eggs in different baskets: low self complexity has greater overlap in different components of self. Grounded within one component so greatly affected.
