The qualitative interview involves asking questions, listening expressing interest, and recording what was said. It is a joint production of a researcher and an interviewee. Insights, feelings and cooperation are essential parts of a discussion process that reveals subjective meanings. Study participants express themselves in the forms in which they normally speak, think, and organize reality. A researcher retains members jokes, and narrative stories in their natural form and does not repackage them into a standardized format. Also known as: un structures, semi-structured, in-depth, ethnographic, open-ended, informal, and long (1-3 hours) interviews. Expressions of interest and ignorance can be balanced. Non-probability sampling: snowball and purposive, hidden populations. Questions and order are tailored to the respondent and situations. Interspersed with jokes, side comments, stories, etc. (all recorded) Interviewer adjusts to members norms and language usage. Signing of consent forms begins the interview.
