Move loco, feed, sensory, respiration (did all 4) But one of the thing thats unsual about this jaw is that instead of it working from tip it works them at base. Anchoring set of skeletal elements, the protopodite. Two branches that come off of it, outer exo, inner endo. Not unusual to find cutiuclar structures that branch from the base of the protopodite. What happens is that as the appendages specialize in fucnction they are going to be modified. Before every appendage had four functions loco, feeding, respiration and sensory. Surface of appendage hairs, sensing quality of food etc. Most large crustacean, garbage feeders, consume as much as they can, pick up debris, rotting material, separate food from non digestable stuff. They are big need to be able to breathe with very large respiratory surface.
