In animals, organs and tissues become specialized for certain functions; for protozoans, it"s their organelles that take on the same functions: permeable integument or skin; water and low molecular weight substances dissolve in it. Movement is even controlled by organelles, pseudopodia in the amoeba. cilia & flagella and the: asexual reproduction - using mitosis, or sexual reproduction - using meiosis. Asexual reproduction often involves division of the parent cell into daughter cells and if the two daughters are similar in size, it"s binary fission; however, if one"s large than the other, it"s budding. If there has been multiple mitotic divisions and the parent cell divides into more than two daughters, its multiple fission. Digestion doesn"t start until the phagosome fuses with a lysosome that contains the digestive enzymes. Undulipodia: cilia, and flagella: microtubular core that has a 9+2 organization with nine paired doublets of microtubules surrounding a central pair to form the axoneme.
