Basic anatomy of vertebrate skeletal muscle: sarcomere myofibril muscle. 1 motor unit = 1 motor neuron + # muscle fibers : attach to a series of muscle fibers. How they"re attached will give you an idea of things are controlled. I. e. if attached to a lot of muscles, then it"s a big on or off vs being able to recruit a few at a time. Myofibril: actin, myosin, troponin, tropomyosin, titin, calcium, atp, sarcolemma, sarcoplasmic reticulum, transverse tubules, acetylcholine, calcium. Twitch: isometric muscle contraction (=constant length); important note: contraction means activated, not necessarily getting shorter.
