Understanding how people named themselves rather than how others named them helps us understand what type of people they were and who they believed they were. Saw themselves as the original people of the land. Boundary lines are in not only geography but also in speech. Anyone outside of their land are viewed as enemies. This is how we create differences between us and them . Locational reference points rather than names of actual places.
