o The view that any weakening of the doctrine of sanctity would harm
the community

o Minor who could not consent to due severe disabilities
o Severe problems around age 11 including seizures or intense pain
o Father killed her using exhaust fumes from truck while he watched
her die peacefully
o He consented for her wife also agreed
o Jury was confused and recommended 1 year prison 1 year house
arrest
o Eventually was appealed and got 2nd degree murder and a 10 year
sentence and ended up serving 7 years
o He told authorities he had no choice because of her deteriorating
condition
o Could have got out early if he admitted he did something wrong but
he stood by his decision with no regret and as a result stayed in
prison
