Document Summary

On november 10th we discussed marx"s view on capitalism and the beginning of communism. Marx"s believed that individuals were destined for freedom and creativity but had been prevented from developing completely because they were slaves to their own basic needs. We discussed in class that before the industrial revolution human productivity had not could not provide an adequate supply of the necessities of life to free. With the emergence of industrialization, individuals became productive enough to have an abundance of goods, which marx"s thought was great because now they would spend more time developing humanity. However with capitalism, the economic system failed to distribute its abundance fairly. Marx argued that capitalism took away more and more of the products that the workers were creating. We also discussed marx"s view on the role of women. He argued that gender is a social idea that the bourgeoisie constructed to keep people in place.
