You will have some choice (but not a lot). * you have three hours to write the exam. Some of you may not need that long, but please take advantage of the time to re-read your answers carefully. Your answers should be as long as you need to develop your argument and sustain it with appropriate textual evidence. * i encourage you to take the time to write a rough point-form outline before you begin writing. You do not need a very long introduction or a lengthy conclusion. * make sure that you have a clear thesis statement within the first paragraph of your essay. (your thesis statement can be one or two sentences. )
