* quantitative research strategies: descriptive: answer questions about the current state of individual variables for a specific group of individuals. Relationships b/w variables: changes in 1 v are consistently & predictably accompanied by changes in another: correlational: measuring 2 variables for each individual. 1 variable is used to differentiate groups, 2nd variable is measured to obtain a score for each individual. Experimental: answer cause & effect questions about the relationship between 2 variables: purpose: explain the relationship by determining the underlying cause, constructed with rigorous control to help ensure an unambiguous demonstration. Cannot conclude that one variable caused a change in another variable.
