THE JUDGEMENT OF PARIS
- Zeus was going to engage with Thetis but there was a prediction that the son
of Thetis will be greater than his own father so he’s like nah and Peleus
marries Thetis and (era is so happy that Thetis doesn’t sleep with Zeus that
she throws them an extravagant wedding
- All the gods and goddesses are invited, except for Eris strife
- Eris rolls an apple and says may the most beautiful goddess take it
- Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite quarrel over who is the fairest and Paris
chooses Aphrodite who offers him the best prize, he gets (elen
- Trojans are foreigners but worship the same gods as the Greeks
- Helen is married to Menelaus (king), has daughter Hermione with him
- When Tandaraus was trying to marry Helen off, oath was taken that all the
suitors who came to ask to marry her would come together and fight if
anything were to happen to Helen
- King Agamemnon leads; he is to sacrifice his daughter Iphigenia to the gods
in order to gain a favourable outcome in the war

- Things go badly for the Greeks, they’re unable to defeat the Trojans and so
Agamemnon asks Achilles to come back
- Apollo sends his arrows of plague because they’ve destroyed his temple and
taken Chryses Achilles’ warprize
- The Greek are nearly defeated; Achilles allows his friend Patroclus to go into
battle in his armor who is then killed by Hector
