Countries, communities, and cultures are vicarious and we always try to keep them together somehow. Culture has ruptures within culture, we always try to make sense of what something is in culture, rituals, use of language and practices all change throughout cultures (ie. different types of orthodox religions- greek, latvian, etc. All within similar borders of each other but have different languages, practices, etc. Hall makes the point that there is a reality between communities, cultures, nations is nothing new but globalization increases the different intensities. Empires in the past have always ruled over many different types of cultures and peoples. Euro is the type of 4 main processes: always many different types of people under one umbrella- succession of empires linked under one rule. Edward said- orientalism book talks about how euro trying to colonize other people. Images shape how colonizers see other countries but also how they see themselves.
