She never says people were this, or are like this- pg 159- not that she thought herself clever: she doesn"t judge people, she cares about what is here and right now. She puts the characters in a space and sees what happens: 137- clarissa was pretty shocked. This woman had taken her daughter from her. People"s minds were still in the war too. It affects and binds everyone together; i was so tiny and unimportant, yet if you ramify this event through enough people, and if you look at how it causes things to happen, it is not so trivial anymore. You cannot see how things affect people by only looking through 1 protagonist. What happened then affects how we she someone now: when we think about narrative we think about a sequence of events.
