Document Summary

Review nietzsche, marx, malcolm x and simone d. Possible questions: talk about the possibilities for individualism. No, people cannot be individuals in the work of nietzsche and marx because their ideas are quite contrary to that of individualism. A herd is a group of people who are afraid to think for themselves, and follow one another (86). Because there is so much unity in a herd, they stick together which can actually negatively impact them because people con gure themselves with the rest of the group. This goes against their individuality because they are instead in a group which is afraid to take their own stand. The herd would eventually be okay with someone else making a decision for them which can quickly get rid of their fear, but they are also diminishing their individuality. Furthermore, marx"s idea also does not allow individualism to occur in a society because he believes that the economy determines everything.
