Akhenaton"s alteration of the artistic and religious life of ancient egypt was drastic, if short-lived. Geometric style: (900-700 bce: athenian ceramic vessels exemplifies the complex, linear, stylized decoration that give this period its name, three dimensionally or receding space has been avoided to emphasize flat pattern and crisp outlines. Classical style: greek, standing sculptures of figures with opposing alternations of tension and relaxation around a central axis, will come to dominate classical art. Hellenistic style: artist of hellenistic period developed visions discernibly distinct from those of their classical greek predecessor, hellenistic artist focused on the individual and the specific. Naturalism: a style of depiction in which the physical appearance of the rendered image in nature seems to be accurately described.
