o The abdominopelvic quadrants are divided into four sections
1. Right Upper Quadrant (RUQ)
• Includes:
▪ Right lobe of the liver
▪ Gallbladder
▪ Right Kidney
▪ Portions of the stomach
▪ Portions of the small and large intestine
2. Right Lower Quadrant (RLQ)
• Includes
▪ Cecum
▪ Appendix
▪ Portions of the small intestine
▪ Right ovary in females, right spermatic cord in males
▪ Right ureter
3. Left Upper Quadrant (LUQ)
• Includes
▪ Left lobe of the liver
▪ Stomach
▪ Pancreas
▪ Left kidney
▪ Spleen
▪ Portions of the large intestine
4. Left Lower Quadrant (LLQ)
• Includes
▪ Most of the small intestine
▪ Large portion of the large intestine
▪ Left ureter

Classification of Epithelia
o Simple
• Only one layer of cells
o Stratified
• Has two or more layers
o Squamous cells
• Thin, flat cells
• Squished nucleus
o Cuboidal cells
• Cube shaped

• Longer than they are wide
• Nucleus is near the base
o Transitional cells
• Mixture of cells
