BIOB11H3- Final Exam Guide - Comprehensive Notes for the exam ( 96 pages long!)
Document Summary
Lecture1: chromosomes, heredity, meiosis, and recombinants: part 2. Biob11: the synpatonemal complex: 4 sister chromatids that makes 2 homologous chromosomes. When they get together these proteinaceous tracks lay in between them (purple lines). The ties in between the tracks that are protein filaments and tend to hold the tracks together at a regular interval. The blobs in between are called recombination nodule that is a multi-enzyme complex. Hence 4 genetically unique gametes. The(cid:374) (cid:373)eiosis whi(cid:272)h fulfils me(cid:374)del"s (cid:1005)st law: two alleles of a gene segregate at meiosis. Notice the subtle arrangement difference: left- yy, right- yy. The consequences of this is that on the left there are two different genotype occurring: 2 cells are ry and other 2 cells are ry.
