New definition revolves around how the elements contribute to gene regulation, transcribed regions, regulatory regions, and other functional sequences such as non-coding rnas. We have genes interacting with behavior and vice versa. Field of neuroscience is changing our understanding of how to measure these. Behavior is what a whole organism does to study behavioral genetics, have to study what the whole organism does and not just a specific part or organ . (umans taking about looking at massive systems of interacting genes within the whole organism that"s in its environment that is ever-changing. Not a behavior reflexive responses is an example and trying to understand for each individual, how it is slightly different from others. This leads to complexity due to things that we cannot control.
