Katabatic winds is the term for downslope winds flowing from high elevations of mountains. It is air that flows over glaciers and ice sheets and downwards in valleys, creating very cold and strong winds. Albedo- is the fraction of solar energy reflected from the earth back into space. It is a measure of the earth"s reflectivity of the earth"s surface. Ice especially with snow on top of it has a high albedo. Chinook- is a strong wind that becomes warmer and very dry while rapidly descending the lee side of the mountain slopes. Hygrometer an instrument used for measuring the moisture content in the atmosphere. Dew point temperature- this is the temperature at which the air is fully saturated and can no longer hold any more water, thus is condenses water into liquid. The dew point is always lower than the air temperature or equal to it.
