HISB10H3 Study Guide - Midterm Guide: Late Bronze Age Collapse, Dorian Invasion, Heroon
Document Summary
Around 12th c. bc there was a huge wave of destruction in the greek world and it"s neighbours. There are many different interpretations of as to why this widespread phenomenon occurred but there is no solid proof available, as there is no written account of this destruction from that time. Thucydides, a later historian writes about the dorian invasion, while egyptian tomb encryptions say the attack of the "sea people". However, both theories have been debunked by historians, and the theory today is that there was widespread economic collapse in this region during this time. There could also have been a natural disaster such as an earthquake; all we know is that this phenomenon did affect a vast amount of area. There is quite a profound significance to this event. This can tell us that since such a vast amount of area was affected they must have been somehow connected to each other either politically, diplomatically, and trading.
