The idea is that once you meet a basic need like physiological (breathing), you can move up to the next level. As you move through these levels you reach the top point which is self- actualization. According to maslow self-actualization is having the ability to use ones talents to full potential. Internal processes: the notion that development has a goal and that autonomy is significant, there are certain points in life course where it becomes more important to be autonomous. Such as reflection and acceptance, nonconformity, logical reasoning, morality, creativity, and acceptance. Think about what the big contribution from each psychologist is, and what their implications are for older adult life.
