Document Summary

Litigation is the system of resolving disputes in court. All adults are free to use the canadian courts, whether or not they are canadian citizens. Therefore, an american can sue a canadian for selling them bad stuff. Only corporations can be considered an entity so only corporations can be sued, normally clubs, or church groups, etc cannot be sued or sue anyone else (but individual members of the clubs may be sued) A class action allows a single person or a group of people to sue on behalf of a larger number of claimants. Class action claims are common for: product liability, mass torts, workplace discrimination, clubs or clergy (sexual abuse type of cases), banking law (improper fees), business law (price fixing), company law (misleading financials). Legal representation: self-representation is allowed and is preferred especially in small claims court, however it can be costly due to lack of experience and technical knowledge.
