MGTA36H3 Midterm: Chapter 5
Document Summary
Four options to organize your presentation: proposition to proof, problem to solution, reflective, and motivated sequence: proposition to proof. Proposition is stated at beginning of presentation. Then, prove proposition with 3-5 points of evidence and emotional appeal. Finally, review evidence and end with strong closing statement. Works well with favorable audiences, possible to work with uninformed, apathetic, and favorable-mixed groups, but not a good choice for hostile or hostile-mix audiences: problem to solution. State the problem and then present solution from your point of view. Audience must believe that there is a problem and agree that it must be solved. After explaining problem, include 3-5 points and supporting material, review, and memorable closing statement. Works well with same type of audiences as proposition to proof: reflective. Start with a problem and then prove it exists. Then establish criteria to evaluate and select solution. Explain rejections, benefits, and negate them by proving there is only one possible solution.
