2 lower motor (efferent) neurons types [alpha and gamma] in the cord travel down the ventral root and innervate muscle fibers. 1 alpha motor neuron + all the fibers it innervates = 1 motor unit. All alpha motor neurons + all fibres that make up on muscle = motor neuron pool. Contraction: ca binds troponin (on actin) to allow tropomyosin to shift and cause myosin heads to bind actin and perform a power stroke, atp then binds myosin head to disengage it from actin. Relaxation: epsps ends, resting potential, ca2+ sequestered by sarcoplasmic reticulum (atp driven pump), myosin binding actin covered. Vulnerable to noise (which i never entirely predicable) i. e. throwing objects, robotic behavior: parametric feed-forward, parametric feedback: Monitors the noise to adjust parameters on the controller. Infinite amount of noise, which can change drastically through time. A comparator compares the actual and desired results and produces an error signal to the controller to adjust parameters.
