Democracy: governing for the interest of the people, allowing for the participation of the people. An important part of having a liberal democracy is ensuring that the rights and freedoms of the people are met, allowing for a liberal democracy to exist. What these rights do is they protect canadians, whom are a part of the liberal democracy in canada. Judicial rulings have allowed for certain things to be considered when interpreting the charter in court. They supposed people regardless of class, race, ethnic background etc.
