Document Summary

Color not a physical property of things= a creation of the mind due to our particular vision systems. Humans see narrow range of the electromagnetic spectrum (400 700nm wavelengths) apparent color of what we see is correlated with the wavelengths of the light rays reaching the eye from that bit of the world. Most light we see= reflected light the more light absorbed by an object= the darker the object appears the color we see depends on the wavelength of the light that is reflected of the surface. Assigned colors to each cone are not really accurate, as long cones for example actually peak at a yellowish color. S-cones= relatively rare, and are less sensitive than m and l cones. Photopic= referring to light intensities that are bright enough to stimulate the cone receptors and bright enough to saturate the rod receptors (drive them to their maximum response)
