Wernicke"s aphasia: damage to upper left temporal lobe, person uses function words & employs complex verb. Loss of ability to produce/comprehend complex syntactical rules: cannot understand complicated sentences. Pure word deafness: damage only to wernicke"s area. Autopagnosia: damage to part of association cortex of left parietal lobe, inability to name body parts.
