Emotion labor: an emotion management that many people do as part of their job and for which they are paid. (e. g. hostess at a restaurant) Exchange theory (blau & hamons): holds that social interaction involves trade in valued resources. Rational choice theory (coleman & hechter): focuses on the way interacting people weigh the benefits and costs of the interaction they always try to maximize benefits and minimize costs. (e. g. business people) Power: the capacity to carry out ones own despite resistance (e. g. hierarchy) Domination: a mode of interaction in which nearly all power is concentrated in the hands of people of high class. Fear in the dominant emotion in systems of interaction based on domination. Cooperation: power is more or less likely equally distributed between people of different class.
