Document Summary

Office hours: thursdays 11:30 1, or by appointment. Many of the issues raised by classical sociological theorists continue to perplex us today. This course will introduce you to some of these issues, including: the consequences of the division of labour, how markets and socio-cultural realms are mutually influencing, how societies evolve, and why beliefs and social structures coincide. To gauge your knowledge, this course will have two essays, one test, and one final exam. Test/exam: these will be comprised of quote identifications, conceptual definitions and explanations, and short essay questions. Essay assignments: the essays will require you to engage with course content in order to develop an original analysis of the authors" ideas. Each essay needs to be uploaded to both turnitin and blackboard. 1 instructions on blackboard about how to do this, as well as deadlines (tbd, but for example, 11:59pm, 6:59am). Technical issues are not an acceptable reason for lateness, so please be proactive.
