Attitudes toward lesbian and gay rights have become more progressive.
Attitudes toward lesbian and gay and lesbian rights are not becoming more progressive instead

White working class emphasizes the need to maintain a place of privilege in the race, gender and
sexual identity hierarchy.
White male solidarity- a collective practice directed toward women. People of color, and non-
heterosexuals that maintain racism and sexism, and homophobia in the local, national, and global
context.
Ingraham defined heteronormativity as the view that institutionalized heterosexuality constitutes
the standard for legitimate and prescriptive sociosexual arrangement...
Institutionalization of heterosexuality becomes infused with masculinity to create heteromasculine
practices. Example men hold negative points of gays more than women.
Men are more likely than women to commit verbal assaults and violence towards homosexuals.
There is a problem with survey research which is validity and reliability in the measurement of
respondents attitudes.
Society today it is often socially unacceptable to disclose personal prejudices, people are more
likely to lie about and hide their liberalities from public scrutiny.
Horvath & Ryan found that discrimination was a factor in evaluating the resumes of gays and
lesbians, but also found that male participants ranked heterosexual women lower than they did gay men
and lesbians.
Many homosexual are fired from their job upon discovery.
