Chordophones: resonating box, strings stretched across (plucked, struck, or bowed) Appalachian dulcimer: horizontally in player"s lap, and is strummed w/quill or thumb, ancient instrument (medieval scale- folklike) Drone: a continuous sound on one or more fixed pitches. Sitar: sympathetic strings (2 sets of strings), not played directly but vibrates by acoustically when others are played. Violin:manipulation of playing techniques vibrato(moving finger and wrist) - wavering pitch to enrich/intensify tone pizzicato (plucking)- plucked rather than bowed *shorts bursts of sound*
