Additional reasons for the selection of the community scale for implantation in fiji was the dominance of pre existing community based approaches and the power of its proponents. Community based management is the most widely accepted approach to natural resource management in fiji: eco regional approach. Management is scientific": unlike community - based management, the focus is on the conservation of species, habitats, and ecological processes within a geographical space defined by natural characteristics. The goal is to maintain an ecosystem in a healthy, productive and resilient condition so that it can provide the services humans want and need.
