One Sample Means Test
¾ Used when the objective is to examine one sample and you are testing whether there is
a significant difference between the sample and the population
¾ If the sample is significantly different, then statistical inference allows the researcher to
conclude that the sample is drawn from different population.
H0: No significant difference between the mean of sample 1 and the population mean.
Therefore, the sample is drawn from the same population.
HA: There is a significant difference between the mean of sample 1 and the population
mean. Therefore, the sample is drawn from a different population.
2. Critical Value
Use the Z distribution if n> or = 30 and the t distribution if n<30
3. Test Statistic
4. Decision rule.
If Ztest LV!RURU= .RU. then reject H0.
