Described by poets as a pearl set in emeralds . Alhambra the red one reflects the color of the red clay. Designed with the mountainous site in mind. Decorations consist of arabic inscriptions that are manipulated by geometrical patterns set onto an arabesque setting. Painted tiles largely used as paneling for the walls. Much of architectural ornament is carved plaster rather than stone. The palace complex is design in an iberian architectural design a characteristic of western elements reinterpreted into islamic forms. The finally form developed during the nasrid dynasty of granada: all stylistic elements used all stylistic elements that had been created and developed during eight centuries of muslim rule such as horseshoe arch, Almohad sebka (grid of rhombuses), almoravid palm, and muqarnas styled cielings and domes. Muqarnas: form of architectural ornamented vaulting, the geometric subdivision of a squinch into a large number of miniature squiches which produce a cellular or honeycomb structure.
